Product placement in movies is usually a pretty easy thing to plan for: if someone is drinking a coffee it makes sense for a major coffee chain to step in. Where it gets a bit more tricky is if the film is set in space.
Luckily automotive giant Audi has come up with an ingenious way of getting its product into the newest move in the Alien franchise, Alien Covenant.
Audi has teamed up with Part Time Scientists, a Berlin based robotics company to make the Audi Lunar Quattro, a moon rover that not only has a starring role in the movie, but will actually be going to the moon in 2018.

Ooh be gah! The Sims are officially coming to iOS and Android devices in a brand new game developed by EA, who claims it will be the most in-depth Sims experience we've ever seen on mobile devices.
This isn't the first Sims mobile game. The Sims Social was a Facebook title while The Sims Freeplay is currently available on iOS and Android, but neither of those titles offer the same experience at the original PC games.
Whether this new mobile game will get closer to the original experience is currently unclear, but we’ve taken a look at the trailer to breakdown what you can expect from the new title.
There is a disclaimer on the trailer that says "image does not represent actual gameplay", which may mean some of this is subject to change.
In-depth house builder
Rather than having a limited house builder option, the new trailer for The Sims Mobile suggests it will give us a similar amount of options as the full game.
It’s unlikely you’ll be able to use everything on day one though – unless you have the 'motherload' cheat for more in-game money – but it does look like there is an option to build your true dream house if you earn enough cash.
Lots of customization options
Part of the fun of The Sims is recreating yourself, your friends and your family in great depth. You can spend hours making sure you've got the nose right.
The trailer shows that there are lots of customization options on The Sims Mobile, so you should be able to build your face quite easily and even create some new kinds of ugly monsters to play the game with.
Pay to boost hobbies
The trailer says you can 'boost hobbies'… that’s not something we’ve heard of before in any other Sims game, so this suggests it will be a new option for the mobile title.
That may mean you can spend money in The Sims Mobile to be able to up your skill levels.
Online multiplayer
We really don't know how this one is going to work. The trailer says you will be able to play The Sims Mobile with friends online, but how exactly is currently unclear.
In the trailer you can see one Sim visit another and by the end of the conversation they are ready to move in together. How this will work in the final game is very unclear.
Lots of micro payments
The bottom of this image includes a disclaimer showing the game will have in-app purchases
This one was inevitable, but a disclaimer on the trailer reveals micro payments will be the way you pay-to-play The Sims Mobile.
It may mean the game is free on day one though, so if you want to just play a short amount of The Sims Mobile it may suit you well.

We’re just days away from the official announcement of the HTC U 11, but it doesn’t seem like there will be much left to reveal, as the phone has been extensively leaked, most recently in a benchmark which gives away most of the specs.
A GFXBench listing suggests that the HTC U 11 will have a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 screen, a Snapdragon 835 chipset clocked at 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
That would make for a high-end but fairly typical spec and one that we’ve heard rumored before – though there’s evidence that there might also be an even higher-end model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Snapping and squeezing
The listing also points to a 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front-facing one, which again, we’ve heard before, so this all sounds quite likely, and means that the HTC U 11 probably won’t have a dual-lens snapper.
You’ll also be able to record video in 4K according to the benchmark, and the U 11 will apparently ship with Android 7.1.1, overlaid with HTC’s own skin.
It all paints a picture of a fairly ordinary flagship, but then, this listing doesn’t paint the whole picture, as we already know that the highlight of the HTC U 11 is likely to be its pressure-sensitive frame, which will likely let you squeeze the phone to interact with it.
Whether that will be a genuinely useful feature or just a gimmick remains to be seen, but we should find out on May 16.

The Nintendo Switch has been out for less than a month, but it’s already inspired some great hardware modifications. From simple fixes to common screen-scratching issues, to more aesthetically-minded elaborate docks featuring retro Nintendo consoles we've seen impressive amounts of creativity.
We’ve compiled a list of our favorites, and we’ll be adding to this list over the years as the internet gets more and more inventive with Nintendo’s latest piece of hardware.

It’s impractically large, and creating it involves the destruction of a classic console, but this Nintendo 64 dock is one of the most impressive Switch mods we’ve seen so far.
We’re particularly fond of how the mod makes use of each of the N64’s original design elements. Its controller ports are re-imagined as USB sockets, and the cartridge slot is now a slot for the Switch’s portable unit.
Sure, the dock means that you won’t be able to charge your Joy-Cons while the console is docked, but that’s a small price to pay for this slice of retro love.
At the other end of the spectrum is this credit card mod, which slims the Switch’s dock down into a much more portable form factor.
The Switch is already very easy to take out and about, but it’s a little more complicated if you want to connect it to another television while you’re on the road since the dock is quite bulky.
This mod changes all that. Simply plug it into your Switch’s USB-C port, and plug in HDMI and power cables, and you’ll be ready to go,
We went back and forth on this one between a dock with a USB plug built in, and one which you had to use an additional cable for, but we opted for the former for using one less cable.
Aside from removing the piece of plastic that would otherwise cover the Switch’s screen, the dock is pretty identical to the official first-party version. It props the console up so it can remain nice and cool, and doesn’t take up too much room in the process.
We also like the fact that the designer has gone to the trouble of putting a little Switch logo on the front, which gives this dock a professional air that some of the other mods on this list lack.
Nintendo invented the modern D-pad with the original Nintendo Entertainment System, but the Nintendo Switch breaks with tradition by splitting its D-pad into four separate buttons.
This decision was made to allow the D-pad to act as face buttons when the left Joy-Con is used as a single controller rather than as a half of a pair, but it’s an annoying change for those of us that have grown accustomed to the classic design.
The change has prompted a number of mods, but we’re fans of this one by reddit user ‘Persian_Assassin’, which appears to have neatly fit the original design into the 2017 controller.
We’re not sure if this counts as a ‘mod’ per se, but after reports started to emerge of Switch docks scratching the console’s screen, enterprising users began to create fabric covers to protect their screens from the hard plastic dock.
The covers range from simple Mario logos to more complicated Zelda designs, but all should be more than sufficient to keep your screen scratch free.
We love what Nintendo has done with its new and colorful Joy-Cons, but we also have an appreciation of the retro that makes us love this mod just a little bit more.
Bringing together the new and the old, YouTube creator JordiPower has modified his grey Joy-Con controllers to look like SNES controllers. They may not have that off-white shade of the original controllers but the colorful buttons are more than enough to keep us happy.
JordiPower has filmed and posted a how to on creating these controllers for anyone desperate to make a pair of their own. Be warned, however – it requires some dismantling and some technical know-how so (and it will almost certainly void your warranty).
The Nintendo Switch is a highly portable console in many ways, but its dock? Not so much. It's light, sure, but it seems unnecessarily large considering it's largely empty aside from a small circuit board.
One clever Redditor, imnotashinobi, has gutted an official dock and created a travel version which they've dubbed "the dockling." Rather than place the Nintendo Switch tablet inside this dock, you connect it via USB-C. This does mean carrying an extra cable but that beats a bulky dock.
A Korean Nintendo Switch owner known as ClownTV has decided to go the retro route with the appearance of their Nintendo Switch has has skinned it to look like a SNES (Super Famicom) console.
They've not missed any details here – the dock, tablet, Joy-Con controllers and its grip are all covered front and back. As it's a skin and not a full paint job there are some ragged edges here and there but it's incredibly impressive and we wouldn't say no to a Switch that looks like this ourselves.

If you've outgrown your point-and-shoot camera or are no longer satisfied with the snaps you get from your smartphone, and feel like you're ready to take your photography to the next level, then an entry-level DSLR is the most obvious choice.
You may also want to consider a mirrorless camera as an alternative, although you won't find one with a viewfinder at the same price as a DSLR.
Entry-level DSLRs deliver a big step up in image quality from a compact camera or smartphone, offering far more manual control and the ability to change lenses to tackle a huge variety of projects. Don't worry though – there are also a host of auto modes to help you out until you're comfortable with the more creative controls.
Obviously, the more features you want, the more you'll pay, but do you actually need them? Our top camera is one of the cheapest on the market, but still offers impressive performance and image quality, plus enough features to handle most assignments, especially if you're still learning.
DSLR bundles
If you're buying your first DSLR, it makes sense to go for a 'kit', which generally includes the camera body along with an 18-55mm lens. This covers a broad zoom range, perfect for everything from landscapes to portraits, but that's just the start.
The key advantage of DSLRs over compact cameras is that you can add to your kit with, for example, wide-angle and telephoto zoom lenses, a flashgun, and other accessories, to make the most of whatever types of photography you're into.
Canon and Nikon offer the largest collections of DSLR lenses, but Pentax and Sony also offer decent ranges. You're not limited to own-brand lenses either, with the likes of Sigma, Tamron and Tokina selling quality lenses at prices that are often lower than the camera manufacturers' equivalent lenses.
Nikon's D3400 might have replaced it, but the D3300 is still our top pick. Why? Unless you want improved connectivity, then the D3300 is pretty much identical to the D3400 and for now at least, is just that bit cheaper. The 24.2MP sensor resolves bags of detail and like much like pricier Nikon DSLRs, it does away with an anti-aliasing filter to maximise image sharpness. This is also a very easy camera to live with. Its clever Guide Mode is a useful learning tool that gives real-time explanations of important features, whilst the collapsible 18-55mm kit lens is great when you're on the go. It's a shame you don't get an articulated touchscreen display (you'll want the D5600 if that's what you're after) or Wi-Fi connectivity, but Nikon does make a cheap plug-in Wi-Fi adaptor if that's a deal-breaker for you.
Nikon doesn't have things all to itself because paying a bit more cash will get you quite a lot more camera. The EOS Rebel T6i (Called the EOS 750D outside the US) may have just been superseded by the EOS Rebel T7i / 800D, but due to the fairly hefty price difference, the older model edges it here. It also means there's a chance to track down a good deal on this great entry-level DSLR. Featuring a 24.2MP sensor that delivers stunning image quality, there's a solid AF system, built-in Wi-Fi with NFC pairing and a articulating, touch-sensitive screen that's a enjoy to use.
Nikon's latest entry-level DSLR is almost identical in specification to the D3300 – our top pick here, but adds Nikon's SnapBridge bluetooth connectivity to transfer images directly to your smart device to make it that much easier to share image. The D3400 is a very good entry-level DSLR, with a range of features to appeal to new users. One of the newest cameras here means the D3300 is a bit better value for money at the moment, but the price of the D3400 has dropped quite a bit since its launch late last year. If you opt for this over the D3300, you won't be disappointed.
The D5600 replaces the D5500 and competes directly with Canon's EOS Rebel T7i / EOS 800D at the upper end of the entry-level DSLR market. Where Nikon's D3000-series cameras are designed as cost-conscious introductory DSLRs, the D5000-series is preferable if you want to get more creative. The D5600 sports a large 3.2-inch vari-angle touchscreen, and while the live view focusing speed could be quicker, the 39-point AF does an excellent job. There isn't much wrong with the D5600's 24.2MP sensor either, delivering excellent results, while the logical control layout of the D5600 makes it easy to use.
The EOS Rebel T7i (known as the EOS 800D outside) is an update to the EOS Rebel T6i / 750D. The resolution stays the same, but it's a new design with an improved high ISO performance. The autofocus also gets a boost, now with a 45-point arrangement that's backed up by excellent live view AF, while the newly designed graphical interface will certainly make this camera even more appealing to new users. The absence of 4K video and the quality of the exterior materials disappoint, but the biggest sticking point at the moment is the price compared to rivals. Until this drops (which it will), get the T6i / 750D and with the money saved, get a new lens or camera accessory.
The D5300 was around for little more than a year before the D5500 technically replaced it. It shares the same 24.2MP sensor with an identical maximum ISO25,600 sensitivity as the D5500, whilst the D5300’s EXPEED 4 image processor and 39-point autofocus system have also been carried over to its replacement. Whilst the D5300 doesn’t sport fancy touchscreen control, you do get GPS instead. The D5300’s 600-shot battery life has since been beaten by the D5500, but it’ll still outlast a Canon T6i / 750D. All in all, it may not be the latest entry-level DSLR, but the D5300 is still a smart buy.
Stick the EOS Rebel T5i / 700D next to the T6i / 750D and you'll struggle to tell them apart, as the new camera inherits the T5i's excellent ergonomics and class-leading touch-sensitive screen. Even the good old button controls are more comprehensive than on rival Nikons, making the T5i intuitive to use, regardless of your ability. However, the T5i's sensor can trace its roots back to the T2i released in 2010 and it's now outclassed in terms of noise suppression and dynamic range. The 9-point autofocus system is also dated and you don't get Wi-Fi connectivity. The T5i's slashed price does make it a tempter, but the T6i is a more future-proof choice. Now we've got the new EOS Rebel T7i / EOS 800D, expect to see this start to disappear from shop shelves soon.
Canon introduced the EOS Rebel SL1 (EOS 100D outside the US) to compete with the influx of compact system cameras and it was the smallest DSLR available when it was introduced in March 2013. It’s getting on a bit now, but while the image quality hasn’t diminished, its price has, making it a good choice for anyone buying their first DSLR. Inside is Canon’s stalwart 18MP APS-C format sensor, a hybrid CMOS AF II variant which means that the focusing is faster than the T5 / 1200D when you’re composing images on the main screen – though it’s not especially quick. The three-inch screen is also touch-sensitive, which makes the SL1 easier to use thanks to Canon’s excellent interface, although there are fewer buttons and dials than on models like the T6i / 750D. Despite the SL1’s small size there’s a good chunky grip to make it feel comfortable and secure in your hand. Image quality is good, but the 24MP Nikon D3300 captures more detail.
The EOS Rebel T6 (known as the EOS 1300D outside the US) uses the same sensor as the camera it replaces, the T5 / 1200D, but it has a newer processing engine and this enables it to produce slightly better quality images. In reality you’re unlikely to be able to spot much difference at normal image viewing sizes though, so it’s not a real biggie. Where the EOS Rebel T6 does score over the T5 though is the connectivity department; its got Wi-Fi and NFC technology built-in. This means you can transfer images to your smartphone for super-quick sharing. You can also use your phone to control the camera remotely, which is ideal for taking group shots with you in the frame. The screen has also been upgraded from a 3-inch 460K dot unit to one with 920K dots, which makes images look much sharper.
Pentax is renowned for producing DSLRs with maximum bang per buck, and the K-70 is no exception. Weatherproof DSLRs that are rain and dust resistant usually cost a packet, but the K-70 offers this protection at a reasonable so you can shoot in all conditions. Just remember that you'll have to partner it with more expensive WR (weather resistant) lenses to get the full benefit. Regardless of the lens you use, the new hybrid live view autofocus system – a first for Pentax – makes live view shooting an enjoyable and practical alternative to using the viewfinder. Pentax's in-camera Shake Reduction system cuts camera shake and can even correct slightly skewed horizons. The only reason the K-70 isn't higher on our list is Pentax's relatively restricted lens range.

Taxi-calling firm Uber is rolling out a welcome update to its mobile apps: the ability to add custom saved places to the map, so you can quickly get a cab to your grandmother's house or to your favorite pizza joint.
"Saved Places makes it easy to bookmark (and forget!) addresses so riders can get to the people and places they need to see faster," explains Uber in a blog post. You can even name addresses with emojis, if proper words are insufficient.
You'll be able to save a new place once you're en route to it in an Uber, and saved places are then accessible from the Where to? box that pops up whenever you're hailing a ride. You might even see a saved place as a suggestion if you go there often.

"Riders repeatedly use Uber to get to just a handful of places – both for work and for fun," says Uber. "As you'd expect, in our early testing riders said that airports, hotels, and colleges are among the top use cases for this feature."
You can already save your home and work addresses inside the app but you'll soon have much more flexibility – add your best friend's house, the bar you frequent most regularly, your kid's school or anywhere else you like.
Uber says the feature is rolling out now on iOS and Android, but only in the US for the time being – the rest of us are going to have to wait until "later this year" to save places. Hopefully it shows up before the self-driving cars do.
