Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus leaked with full-metal bodies
Motorola has already launched the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus this year, but as impressive as these two budget handsets are it looks like it will soon have them beat, with the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus, both of which have now been caught on camera.
Shots of the Moto G5S were sent to Android Authority by a “trusted source familiar with Lenovo’s plans”, and show a full-metal handset in grey, gold and blue.
The heavy use of metal is the main difference to the G5, which has an aluminum back, but plastic sides, and based on these shots it leaves the phone looking significantly higher-end, with just slim antenna bands along the top and bottom, where the Moto G5 has thick plastic strips.
Otherwise, the Moto G5S looks similar to its predecessor, with a circular single-lens camera, a 3.5mm headphone port and a home button (presumably with a fingerprint scanner built in) below the display.
Twice the cameras and twice the flash
As for the Moto G5S Plus, that’s been leaked by MySmartPrice and looks very similar to the standard Moto G5S, but with one key difference – it has a dual-lens camera, which would be a first for a Motorola handset.
You can also see that it has a dual-LED flash on the back, a single-LED flash on the front and comes in gold, grey, silver (with white front) and gold (with white front). The source also reports that the G5S Plus has an octa-core 64-bit chipset and runs Android 7.0 Nougat.
As ever with leaks we can’t be sure of their accuracy, but they don’t look fake, and this isn’t the first we’ve heard of these phones, as a leaked presentation slide also recently mentioned them, revealing that the Moto G5S would have a 5.2-inch 1080p screen and the Moto G5S Plus would have a 5.5-inch one.
It’s not known exactly when these phones will launch, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they land in the next few months, so if you’re after an affordable handset it might be worth waiting.
